Decision Makers: Akio Toyoda
Akio Toyoda (Toyoda Akio, born May 3, 1956 in Nagoya) is the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation and is a grandson of founder Kiichiro Toyoda. He joined Toyota in 1984, becaming a board member in 2000 and was made an executive vice president in 2005, taking charge of Japanese sales and overseas operations. On January 2009 he was announced as the forthcoming president of the company. On June 23rd he was confirmed as the new president of the company, along with four new executive vice presidents and eight new board members. The previous president and CEO Katsuaki Watanabe became vice chairman replacing Katsuhiro Nakagawa. He received his MBA from Babson College.
